SCUBA DIVING NUSA PENIDA
Nusa Penida is a large uninhabited island around 45 minutes by boat from the east coast of Sanur Bali. Nusa Penida has some great scuba dive spots and is the must go island to see the amazing Manta Rays and Mola Mola fish.
There are a number of great scuba dive around Nusa Penida including Crytal Bay, Manta Point, Batu Abah and Toyapakeh.
Also locate right next to Nusa Penida is the smaller island of Nusa Lembongan which also has some great scuba diving locations. The best dive shops to arrange scuba diving at Nusa Penida are in Sanur as this is the area where you get on the boat to cross over to Nusa Penida so these dive shops make regular trips across and are most familiar with the dive spots around Nusa Penida.
Manta Point Dive Spot Nusa Penida
Manta Point is located on the south west cost of Nusa Penida, one of the best diving spots in all of Bali. At Manta Point the amazing Manta Rays come into this bay to be cleaned by the sucker fish. The manta rays can grow to over 4 meters across and graciousfully swim through the waters of Manta Point so easy to swim up close to them to get a good look.
Manta Point is good for scuba diving for all types of scuba divers, from beginners to experts. Manta Point starts at around 4 meters and slopes down to around 30 meters before going deeper out at the ocean area.
Often there are more than 20 manta rays swimming around this area during the day so quite easy to spot them. You should not touch the Manta Rays as they produce a mucous that covers their skin protecting them from infections. If you touch them then this muscous comes off making them vulnerable to illnesses.
Crystal Bay Dive Spot Nusa Penida
Crystal Bay is located on the west coast of Nusa Penida with a beautiful white sandy beach. The waters close to the beach are quite calm and good for beginner divers. The sandy bottom slopes down and gets deeper the furterh you swim out and drops off into a deep ridge. Strong currents occur close to the steep drop off.
During season you have a chance to see the large Mola Mola fish at Crystal Bay. You will often see turtles at Crystal Bay.
