Labuan Bajo, the gateway to the Komodo National Park, is a small town of around 22,000 people on the west coast of Flores Island, in eastern Indonesia.
Most tourists that visit Labuan Bajo are there to go to see the Komodo Dragons on Komodo Island or to enjoy the amazing scuba diving in the Komodo National Park.
There are several airlines that fly direct to Labuan Bajo from Bali or from Jakarta. These include Garuda Indonesia, Wings Air (Lion Air), Nam Air (Sriwijawa Air) and Batik Air.
There is a good selection of accommodation in Labuan Bajo to suit all budgets. From basic backpacker accommodation to some luxury hotels like the Jayakarta Komodo Hotel.
As well as the trips to Komodo National Park, there are also some other tourist attractions inland from Labuan Bajo including some impressive waterfalls and caves. Another big highlight of Labuan Bajo are the impressive sunsets, with the sun setting over the water, infront of Labuan Bajo Harbour.
There is only 1 main road that travels through Labuan Bajo town centre. Along this road is lined with travel companies, scuba diving shops, restaurants and cafes.
The Labuan Bajo Komodo Airport is located 7km away from the town centre. There are counters in the arrivals hall which can arrange a car transfer to your hotel for 80,000Rp.
